It's like when you're working towards your dream and working so hard you don't really notice it happening. I somehow stumbled onto Big Bang's Bang Bang Bang on Youtube, discovered G-Dragon, which led to Dope. I think War of Hormone REAL version will always be a Classic Bangtan Bomb for when I need cheering up, but I love this version of Baepsae because you can see the growth and confidence. I think people forget that he's the Visual who wants to be more than just a pretty face. He's still cute in a lowkey way, and his dancing's still adorkable, but his confidence is SO MUCH HIGHER. It seems silly that a blonde dye job could do it, but it's like a mousy girl with a great makeover. (Hell, I'm 40-something and still haven't learned that!) I don't think he understood that you can be imperfect and loved. I think that crying jag on stage he had was VERY healing to him. Grandpa Yoongi isn't so hard on himself anymore, and is willing to make an ass of himself, with that Yoongi-you-got-no-ass twerking of his. There's just a level of solid confidence, there. He can do the Hotline Bling and flap around like a bird, and dress like a damn Minion if he wants to.
I think he's found a balance between Idol and legit rapper. Rapmon's more reserved, and less intense. oh yeah, he came in third in that tennis competition! I think he's just been fighting for the spotlight for so long, and now that it's here, it means so much to him. He's been a backup dancer, a featured rapper, trained in another group.
He doesn't have traditional Idol-style good looks, so I think he's been put in the corner a lot, despite his considerable talents. I'm not even Hobi-biased, but I am SO happy for him. I think he finally feels like he belongs somewhere, as himself. Hobi's more happy and relaxed and isn't as much of a try-hard with the aegyo. I think the three wins and their latest concerts really blew their minds a bit. I think the difference is the level of confidence they all have.
